Plentiful sunlight shines into this apartment and the interior harnesses this optimistic feeling with natural muted colours as the chosen palette. The atmosphere is airy, bright and light as a feather.
This space is practically unrecognisable if you have seen how it looked previously. Radically reconfigured, you are greeted by a study room upon entry. Turn to the corner and you see the kitchen. Where is everything else? That sense of wonder that one gets when entering this space for the first time is what makes visiting this 3-room HDB flat a unique experience.
A mirrored panel separates the study room (originally the living hall) from the rest of the apartment. Although a considerable size, the panel does not overwhelm because of its mirrored surface which tricks the eye into thinking that more space has been created.
The big reveal behind the mirrored panel is a tranquil space made for relaxation. Beyond that, tucked right at the back, is where the flat owners retire for the day.
Steps that double as storage spaces lead up to the platform bed which is obscured from view with soft grey curtains. Answering to the owner’s requirement of clean straight lines, a spin or rather, a slant has been put on it in the sleeping area where a gentle sloped ceiling casts soft shadows in the space.
The overall calm interior is spiced up in the kitchen with the usage of the teal colour but everything else has been kept sleek and simple - the way the owners desire.
